Your Grand Kafue Expedition begins with a relaxing stay at Kafue River Lodge, featuring riverside sundowners, boat cruises, and classic game drives. After settling into the rhythm of the bush, you’ll head to Kikuji Camp for peaceful birding and fishing before venturing into the famed Busanga Plains at Kasonso Camp, where open landscapes promise outstanding wildlife encounters. The adventure continues south to Musekese Camp for walking safaris and up-close predator sightings, followed by riverside tranquility at Kaingu Camp, renowned for its hospitality and scenic river views. Your journey wraps up at Nanzhila Plains Camp in the wild southern reaches of Kafue, where mammal diversity and rewarding game drives round out the experience. After two weeks of unrivaled adventure, your safari concludes with a return to Lusaka or Livingstone, taking with you lasting memories of Zambia’s iconic wilderness.

Days 1–2 Arrival & Safari at Kafue River Lodge

Your adventure begins at Kafue River Lodge, ideally located on the tranquil banks of the Kafue River. Whether you arrive by road or air, settle in and unwind with a scenic boat cruise—the perfect introduction to the region.
In the evening, enjoy dinner served on the river-facing deck after relaxing by the campfire.
The following day begins early with a wake-up call at 05:00. Tea, coffee, and a light breakfast will be ready at the boma. At around 06:00, embark on a morning game drive, returning in time for a hearty brunch.
Relax during the early afternoon, then meet at 15:30 for high tea before heading out on an afternoon safari at 16:00. Activities may vary slightly based on your preferences and seasonal highlights.

Day 3 Journey to Kikuji Camp

Today, we transfer to Kikuji Camp, a scenic location en route to the Busanga Plains. This region is a hidden gem, ideal for those interested in birding, fishing, and botany. Take in the peaceful beauty and explore at your own pace.

Days 4–6 Safari in the Busanga Plains at Kasonso Camp

Next, we head deep into the Busanga Plains, where Kasonso Camp awaits. Known for its expansive views and prolific wildlife, this remote safari outpost offers excellent game viewing.
Daily routines here mirror those at Kafue River Lodge, with game drives being the primary activity due to the vast, open terrain.

Days 7–8 Walking Safari & Big Game at Musekese Camp

From Busanga, we travel south to Musekese Camp, a well-regarded spot for predator sightings and diverse wildlife.
We recommend morning walking safaris to discover the bush up close, followed by afternoon boat cruises or game drives.

Days 9–11 Riverfront Bliss at Kaingu Camp

Continue the journey further south to Kaingu Camp, nestled along the Kafue River. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walk to Mpamba Rock.
The next day features a morning game drive in the National Park and a relaxed afternoon boat cruise. Kaingu is known for its warm hospitality and serene river views.

Days 12–13 Untamed South at Nanzhila Plains Camp

Our final safari stop is the southern sector of Kafue, at Nanzhila Plains Camp. Accessible via a scenic route through Itezhi-Tezhi, the area offers strong mammal diversity and excellent game-viewing opportunities, especially on driving safaris.

Day 14 Departure to Lusaka or Livingstone

After breakfast, your unforgettable Kafue journey concludes. We will arrange your return transfer or flight to Lusaka or Livingstone, depending on your onward plans.
